IWD 2010 - Sisters Again at Forefront
Sisters throughout the Federation were again at the forefront of functions and activities celebrating International Women’s Day 2010. Click
Many Sisters were called upon as Guest Speakers at gatherings in their local areas. Most took the available opportunities to attend, (often helping to organise), functions and a variety of activities raising awareness of women’s issues. Some had their spirits lifted by inspiring young women with amazing stories of their continuing effort both in their local settings and as volunteers overseas, while all, including the frail-aged Sisters joined in prayer for “deprived, degraded and disadvantaged women in whatever their circumstance” (cf. A Future and A Hope, Constitutions, Australian-New Zealand Federation of Sisters of St Joseph)
Sisters welcomed the Australian Bishops’ Letter to Women on the 10th anniversary of the report into the participation of women in the Catholic Church in Australia. Click

Each year on 8 March, hundreds of International Women's Day events

The global United Nation theme for International Women's Day 2010 was
Equal rights, equal opportunities: Progress for all
